Pennadomo | Print |
The tiny settlement of Pennadomo is nestled on a cliff topped by rocky slabs. The unpredictability of the tectonic movements caused these thin rocky layers to be perpendicular to the sky while the San Leo stream has made deep furrows into them. It flows through the green Forra (Gorge) della Gran Giara and the into the most fascinating corner of the Lake of Bomba, which is commonly known as the Lake of Pennadomo. These furrows are locally known as the Lisce (smooth), making it immediately clear why they are very famous among the best climbers. Several free climbing paths mark the various sectors of hard limestone and have fascinating names: Resegone, Paretone (Big wall), Cima Fumosa (Smoky peak), Placche dell’Oasi (Smooth face of the oasis), Solitudine (Loneliness). On top, there is a vary small place and the climber is awarded with a wonderful view on the roofs of the old village and the green lake.pennadomo.jpg
