Elevation: 550 meters Population: 240 San Giovanni Lipioni is a small village, right on the border to Molise. It is considered the last village of the province of Chieti, being so close to the border. ![]() HISTORICAL FACTS The antique origins of this hamlet are testified thanks to a drawing piece of art now sitting at the National library of Paris. During Roman times, there was a city hall (municipium Terventum) called Terventum, then the name changed to San Giovanni Lupino and then to San Giovanni Lipioni in the 17th century. WHAT TO SEE - Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, built in 1504 and hen refurbished in baroque style in the 18th century. - Old fountain built in the early 1800s.
